2023 ANU Flute Day

ANU Flute Day is back by popular demand! ANU Flute Day has become a key annual gathering of the Canberra flute community, bringing together ANU School of Music and Open School of Music flute students and pre-tertiary flute students from across Canberra and the region with Canberra’s leading flute teachers.

The day will feature the following esteemed Canberra flautists and teachers:

Dr Sally Walker (Senior Lecturer in Classical Performance [Woodwind] - Australian National University), Kiri Sollis (Flautist - Griffyn Ensemble, Principal Flute - Canberra Symphony Orchestra), Teresa Rabe, Lisa McMahon, Dr Beth Hwang, Rebecca Timoney, Cicilia Kemezys , Jennifer Brian, Kate Murphy, Jodie Petrov and Jane Rayner

Activities:

  • Flute ensembles (beginner to professional levels, including an adult amateur ensemble)

  • Masterclasses on flute, piccolo and baroque flute

  • Jazz Flute Taster

  • Historical Instruments Demonstration

  • Irish Flute Tune Play Along

  • Performance Preparation and managing Performance Anxiety workshop

  • Games for young flautists

  • End-of-day concert - everyone gets to perform!

Suitable for: Beginners – professionals. Adult amateurs are encouraged.
